TIPS FOR HANDLING THE PALETTE
Let’s work with the palette.
Let’s prepare the color. We’re going to make a sort of wine stain below the palette. A very dark red.
Always leave space on the palette.
I’m leaving small remains in case I need to touch up each mixture again.
Until the end of the painting, I try to have almost all the colors because if I need any color to touch up somewhere, I still have it on the palette.
If not, I could calmly clean up and leave the palette clean and a bit more organized.
We prepare the red and start creating the base of the palette.
We darken it with ultramarine blue. The blue will take away saturation because it’s its COMPLEMENTARY color.
Well, I’ve already blended the two colors. The wine stain color I used initially (the lighter one), and I’ve already started blending the darker one. I’m going to keep darkening towards the back.
Always darkening with ultramarine blue.
Remember, I had a base of red and burnt sienna, and now I’m darkening directly on that base.
The point I’m trying to make with this short article is the IMPORTANCE of having a properly arranged palette.
In the long run, this method will save us a lot of time, we will work more comfortably and with a different dynamic.
Everything will result in a more natural and organic way.
